Risk Management in Health Care setup for Nurses
The healthcare delivery system is embedded in a complex and dynamic environment. While there have been healthcare advances in treatment, medical errors, quality and patient safety, malpractice and negligence continue to be of concern for both providers and consumers.
As the nurse’s role evolves and adapts to changes, nurses are exposed to an increase in liability and are named as defendants in malpractice cases. This evolution should be recognized as an advantageous opportunity for nurses to learn about risk reduction strategies, recommended best practices, and resources. We will review strategies and practices that can be incorporated easily into your daily practice to minimize your risk and liability exposure, regardless of your specialty/work environment.
